A ganhadora do prêmio em 1993 foi a primeira e única escritora negra a vencer o Nobel de Literatura. Morrison nasceu em 1931 nos Estados Unidos e, desde cedo, teve contato com histórias da tradição afro-americana, as quais influenciaram sua escrita

De acordo com o prêmio, a escritora é “quem, em romances caracterizados por força visionária e importância poética, dá vida a um aspecto essencial da realidade americana". Entre suas principais obras, constam O Olho Mais Azul e Amada

O último vencedor do prêmio, conquistado na última quinta-feira (7/10). Nascido em 1948, ele cresceu em Zanzibar e chegou à Inglaterra como refugiado no fim da década de 1960. O escritor já publicou 10 romances, mas sua obra ainda é pouco conhecida no Brasil

Abdulrazak Gurnah

A Academia Real das Ciências da Suécia, organizadora do Prêmio Nobel, considera que Gurnah venceu porque “sua penetração intransigente e compassiva dos efeitos do colonialismo e do destino do refugiado no abismo entre as culturas e os continentes”

Possivelmente, a maior surpresa do prêmio Nobel aconteceu em 2016, quando o cantor venceu a honraria. O americano nasceu em maio de 1941 e se tornou um dos grandes nomes do estilo musical folk. Lutas políticas, amor e religião são temas comuns em suas letras

Bob Dylan

Apesar de também ter escrito prosa, incluindo seu livro de memórias, Crônicas, Bob Dylan venceu o Nobel de Literatura por “ter criado novas expressões poéticas dentro da grande tradição da canção americana”

O colombiano é um dos responsáveis pela grande popularidade da literatura latino-americana. O ganhador da honraria no ano de 1982 tem como obra-prima Cem Anos de Solidão, vista como um dos monumentos da literatura em língua espanhola

Gabriel García Márquez

Segundo a Academia Sueca, Márquez venceu o Nobel "por seus romances e contos, nos quais o fantástico e o realista se combinam em um mundo de imaginação ricamente composto, refletindo a vida e os conflitos de um continente"
